i feel like i've been baking nonstop lately.
here are some foods i have made...

i made this for my boss when he moved. i guess it's obvious which chain restaurant i work for.
it was all rainbowified inside...

these cupcakes are 2 points if you're on weight watchers.
i made them for my mom and she took them to work and people seemed to dig them.

these were for a barbeque we went to. devils food with caremel icing and fondant leaves.

this one was for my older brother's birthday. it's a dalek from dr. who. the cupcakes are for putting candles in.

the baking was easy on this guy. i made his body buy baking boxed cake mix in a small oven safe batter bowl and his head is and upsidedown cupcake glued on with icing. the fondant and edible paint took forever though. plus i don't watch dr. who so i had to keep running to my computer to see what the robot looked like constantly.

oh yeah. maybe i'll post actual art later, huh?

i hadn't gone on a lot of my former internet time wasters in awhile and spring break made me want to so i got back into internet scrabble
and stardolls. internet scrabble is self explanatory...you go to http://www.isc.ro and downloaded it and play all the time. it pretty much rules. what's really retarded is mitch and i will sit on our computers in the same room and play each other sometimes instead of juust physically playing real scrabble.

yes internet scrabble is dorky, but it doesn't make me all that embarrassed to own up to. stardoll, however,eghh....
ok. it's paper dolls you play with on the internet of celebrities and stuff. which seemed fine when it first started and it was mentioned in jane magazine, but i hadn't been on in awhile and my login name expired because now you have to be UNDER 18 to even play with it. i guess to keep perverts off. plus you can have a paid membership now, which i wouldn't do anyway, because all it means is you can "buy" clothes for your avatar and play with dolls the unpaid kids can't play with. HAHA SCAM. i don't even care. i resigned up with a fake birthday and play with dolls all day for free. hells yes.

first off, how freaking insane is this...

avi, you are amazing for getting this on your body. actually at least one other person is walking around with a tattoo of something i've drawn but i lost the photo. it was of a cavegirl i drew for uncle mat. and most of brickfight said there were plans to get charlie brown mermaids but i have yet to see any evidence.

if your into barfing cupcakes but don't want one permenantly affixed to your body you should have gone to staple this year!
i sold cupcake buttons and mini comics at a table with dave, melissa and mitch obiviously. totally the most fun i'll probably have all year.
i've been lazy about uploading the very few photos i remembered to take but i found these ones of us online...

a bus towards home. well, towards downtown. mitch will pick me up from there and take me home.
we hella cleaned last night and now the apartment sparkles.
we hung a lovely new painting and a mirror and put EVERYTHING AWAY.
no more boxes in the bedroom. i feel like i am never home since school started back up for the semester so it was overdue.

i need a haircut so bad it is making me crazy. i straight ironed my bangs before school and walked outside and it started raining...and now my bangs are these giant ridiculous curly-Q's all arond my face. when my bangs get to long they form into a giant wing that flies away from my face and makes me hate life. see blurry photo below for example>>>

OH! i just watched this movie called transiberian and it was so good. one of those neat suspense thriller movies that is actually suspenseful and thrilling so you stop hating that genre of film for a brief moment before remembering most of em are not as good as this one actually was. SEE IT. RED BOX IT. NETFLIX IT. WHATEVER IT IS YOU KIDS DO THESE DAYS.

sorry if you are subscribed to him too and you had to look at them already. thems the breaks. regarding these covers...they were both really fun to paint. so of them are dull but really easy--like mitch spends hours drawing them and hands them to me and i'm done in ten minutes and then everyone oohs and ahhs over the colors being so dead on. these ones both took me hours to get them to where i was happy with them, the neutral milk hotel one especially. mitch kept thinking i was done with that one and i have to snatch it back and work on it some more.

what else...
nope that's it.
oh wait...who else is going to staple in a few months? cause i am.

hello everybody.
i haven't posted on either journal in months and i'm sorry that i suck so much.
if you are friended to my other blog you should have noted that i said i would no longer be keeping two separate ones because it was confusing and because i'm no longer posting stuff on the internet that i feel needs to be locked. it's too hard to keep things hidden from people i don't want reading them and it made blogging a chore i didn't like doing.

anyway, two of my resolutions for this new year and to post on lj regularly again, and to make more art for you lovely people to look at.

mitch drew it and then i spent days painting this asshole until i hated looking at it.
...a week or so has passed and now i like it again.

see, i have been gone, but i haven't been lazy. i also moved, and though it was basically only across the road it was pretty big for me.
i will post some photos of the new place and other things maybe next post.
hammy's good. she accidentally taped a cardboard box to her head last week but other than that she's cool.

i'm sorry i left for so long. it was cold out there in outer space though.

i've been ignoring you. it's not because i don't love you. it's just that when i'm busy, i consider you and the internet a distraction and so i ignore you to get stuff done.

here are some painting's i've been working on for a secret project i hope will be done in a few months...

i've got about six(?) or more in various states of completion. this one is mitch's favorite so far, even though it's not done he already claimed it...

i know i'm behind on posting my uncle mat illustrations...i'll do it later today maybe.

also, if you have a Chili's restaurant where you live, you should eat there this Monday the 29th. All our profits, 100%, go to St Jude's Children's Hospital. meaning just eating there means you are doing something great for kids. I've been a hostess at a Chili's restaurant for a year and a half and things like this make me happy to work there. Ours and most of the other chili's will have other things going on to raise money. I'll be painting faces all night at mine, plus we're having live music and carnival type games. so please please find a local Chili's near you this monday and go enjoy yourself while doing something great.

i haven't updated in weeks. i'm sorry! i've been really busy lately, so posting to my lj has been REALLY REALLY back burner for a while.
here are some uncle mat's from the last few weeks...

and this one was watercolored, but i'm not sure if i was happy with how it turned out...

article here. all of my uncle mat illustrations have to be the same size, this horozontal rectangle, and all the art has to be totally borderless so i'm always trying to make these little enviroments without getting to have like lines or space or anything touching any of the four sides. so i was excited to do this illo without constraints (other than it being in black and white) for razorcake...

this whole post is devoid of cute animals(unless you count bunny slippers.), but i will be sure to add some next time.

i'm finishing like three more projects tonight...but here is one that i just finished scanning like five minutes ago.
i got these new pip-squeak crayola markers that come in a 64 pack like crayons and the colors are so awesome.
i wish i was famous so i could get crayola to see this and send me free markers all the time. i am a crayola marker die-hard fan.

the ones he did have orange backgrounds. mine both have blue.
what's funny is i think his me looks more like me, and my him looks more like him.
haha.

(personal notes: mitch forgot to swith his eye color, and technically i have more than one pair of glasses, so both the glasses in my pictures are correct.)

first off, this lovely piece. i still have to scan the back cover as well.

bryan ohio of the political party was a fan of my watercolor stuff,
and he wanted me to sort of mirror this comic book cover but with ninja cats and ta-da--EP cover for send help is done.

then i also did a watercolor illo for the san antonio current for this week's uncle mat about gal looking for a man:

the letter (which is here) said she was a thick lady, and big girls look super cute in cavegirl gear so this one pretty much drew itself.
i draw the uncle mat illo every week now and i'm constantly trying to figure out how not to just draw the same picture of a sad person every week since it's an advice column. sometimes i feel like it's hit or miss but i really liked this one and i think it suits the letter in the column.

*(like the flannery o'conner short story, not like the crappy movie.)

i usually only have a few days (sandwiched into my weekend, when i work long hours no less!) to read the uncle mat rough draft and come up with and complete an illustration so i normally try and keep the drawing as uncomplicated as possible. then last week, i not only got my assignment a day earlier than usual, but it was also a letter from a group of singles looking for boyfriends who call themselves the goonies. so i went nuts and try to semi-style the drawing like the ads and posters for the goonies movie...a movie my generation seems obsessed with, but i haven't actually seen in years. the short of it is, i went crazy and made a way more complicated illo than usually and was then super happy with the result. blah.

as usual, the article is here. also, the current updated the look of their site and now columns is on the front page so you can see a little bit of my art front and center which is way fun.

what else, i'm knee deep in drawing a back cover for an album and the front's done so when i get it all set up you can see that later in the week maybe.

also, big red soda is gross dudes.

for the current this week i handed in a black and white version of this illustration, but i did a color one too and so here is that version for you to feist your eyeballs on...

remember a while back when i asked you guys if you'd be interested in a coloring book made by me, if i were to make one? and then you all were like, "yes do it!" and i said ok? yeah well i'm knee deep in working on it! only a quarter of the way through all the drawings but here is a sneak peek of the cover--rough and unfinished as it right now...

whoo! so i'll keep working on that in the near future and maybe one day it will be done and you can buy it for real moneys!
or else the mer-charlie will be very upset...

when you can draw people constantly ask you to draw them things all day. at work and school i am often asked if i will draw people's favorite cartoons, or design a tattoo for them, or if i can do a portrait of their kid/girlfriend/late grandmother and i never know what to do but politely change the subject

..then brenda at work asked me to draw a pooh bear for her daughter and i was like, what the hell, after all, he seemed liked he'd be pretty easy--yellow bear and red shirt--to make up without looking at a picture so i drew it right there at work.
and everyone fussed,
including mitch,
so now you guys get to see it too.

wheee. if the lawyers at disney are reading this, know i gave brenda the picture for free so don't sue me. i is poor.
besides, i don't think a.a. milne would care a bit. but if this becomes some lame pooh bear meme i'm killing all of you. the memes are outta control this year and i for one am exhausted.

if drawing pooh bears makes me uncool then i don't wanna be cool anyways.
